Die neue, ambitionierte Veranstaltungsreihe wide open eyes shut serviert Kompositionen aus Bands, Live Acts, Djs und Vjs, die ebenso zum Staunen wie zum Tanzen bewegen. „It will satisfy ears, eyes and legs." - Was als Konzert beginnt endet als Party...der Übergang ist fließend.

Essentieller Bestandteil des Veranstaltungskonzeptes sind Aus- und Fortbildungsworkshops für junge KünstlerInnen in Form von Workshops und Tutorials.

Inhalte: geschichtliches und theoretisches Hintergrundwissen zum Thema Visuals, kurzer Überblick über gängige Visual-software, Einführung in die beiden Programme resolume und pd-gem, verschiedene Techniken zur Erstellung von Bildmaterial, Steuerungsmöglichkeiten von Visuals (von audio bis midi).

Fragments Of An Empire

Kraftvoll und episch bewegen sich Fragments Of An Empire zwischen den verschiedensten Bereichen der Musik. Die Herausarbeit stetiger Stimmungswechsel führt zu Stücken, die von still-melancholischen Melodien bis hin zu Ausbrüchen gewaltiger Klangwelten reichen. Mit einer, wie gewohnt, berauschenden Live Darbietung wird im Rahmen von wide open eyes shut das erste Album präsentiert.

Iambic² [laridae / london]

Guy Andrews´ Debutrelease „under these stars, we´ll sleep again" (laridae.at, 2007) erinnert an Sigur Ros und Mum, überzeugt aber ebenso durch seine sympathische Authentizität. Die sanfte Schönheit seiner Indietronica Tracks verzaubert.

„Iambic² (pronounced "Iambic Squared") is an ambient/indie-tronica project from the UK based producer, Guy Andrews. Iambic² was created to reflect certain moods, yet allows the listener to interpret the music in a truly unique and personal way. The listener can create any kind of mood or feeling from the relaxing, evocative, ambient textures and melodies which Iambic² is known for. The writing process adopted for many songs is quite different from conventional song writing styles. Due to the amount of live improvisation that goes into the writing and recording of the songs, Guy finds it easier to capture vibes and emotions which can only be achieved through live expression.
With the first album 'Under These Stars, We'll Sleep Again' released in January '07 on Laridae Records, Iambic² has been receiving excellent reviews from both press and fans all over the globe. Guy is already well under way with the second LP and has plans to work with other vocalists to branch out the Iambic² sound."

Simon/off [winterstrand, houseverbot / wien]

Winterstrand-Drittel Simon Hafner produziert deep-dubby-electroiden Breakbeat, der mal nach Detroit, mal nach London blickt und den Tanzboden dabei immer im Auge behält.

„In 1998 I started dj-ing at local underground parties in Graz / Austria. First with various kinds of Breakbeats, D&B / Jungle. Then IDM and Ambient stuff, Minimal, like the first Kompakt and Studio 1 releases, and so called Breakcore. Together with my brothers I formed the WINTERSTRAND collective in 1999. I began organizing and co-organizing freestyle partys in and around Graz to help building up a local scene and to push musical borders further back. For example the incredible VOLUME, COLLISIONS in 2002 or the HAXEN BRECHEN-HERZEN BRECHEN in 2004. I was also involved in founding labels and associations like LEEMUSIC, INTER-ACT / EXIT SPACE and the club DAS VEILCHEN. In 2005 I moved to Berlin to be more concentrated on my productions. The SOON EP was released and got great feedback. In Mai 2005 I got into the netlabel scene by releasing a Winterstrand album on KIKAPU. That turned me into a passionate netaudio hunter. I did a lot of tracks with Wintertrand in 2006 and released my first "netaudio-only" dj-mix on the german mixlabel MIXOTIC.In 2007 I´m going to release more of my solo-stuff which is currently kind of electroid deep / dubby danceable Breakbeat." simon/off

Cheever [spirals first / graz]

Mit einem enormen Maß an Begeisterung(sfähigkeit) und einer stets passenden Plattenauswahl bringt DJ Cheever gekonnt jeden Dancefloor in Bewegung. Nicht nur als DJ, sondern v.a. auch als Mitglied des Produzentenkollektivs Liquid Squad (houseverbot recordings) bereichert der ehemalige Sans Secour Gitarrist seit vielen Jahren die grazer Musikszene.

Clara Moto [houseverbot / graz]

Die aufstrebende Djane und Produzentin Clara Moto ist Musikerin seit ihrer Kindheit. Mit einem Background in Klassischer Musik und Jazz besticht sie sowohl in ihren Kompositionen als auch in ihrer Plattenwahl mit viel Feingefühl und dem Gespür für passende Dosierungen. Ihr derzeitiger Output ist in den Genres Minimal, Techno und House zu kategorisieren. Neben ihrem musikalischen Schaffen betreibt sie mit Bitz & Puschmann das Label Houseverbot Records. Die bisherigen Highlights ihrer jungen Karriere waren wohl ihre Auftritte beim Spring- und Elevate Festival und die Teilnahme an der Red Bull Music Academy in Melbourne 2006.

„who the :_,ä..+ is mimu? I can't give you any philosophical answers so i stay tight to the facts. after doing a school for graphic design mimu started to make visuals in 2002 as member of sofa23, an artist group which developed to a kind of media art network (sofa23.mur.at). things that are static should be convinced to some movement, mimu thought, and so she decided to stay up all night to throw thousands of pictures on the wall. one image is never enough.
during spring 2005 a new constellation of co-working came into beeing: the artist group UNZ. consisting of mimu and max.belastung, thanks to max online visible at www.unz.at - a challenging piece of html ready for caressing your eyes.
one of the first exhibitions has been at the Neue Galerie/ New Gallery in Graz/ Austria (da homebase) and it went on with projects in public space (also in Graz) for kleine zeitung city marathon, forum stadtpark and rotor, and also with residencies in Bulgaria and Italy/ Slovenija." mimu

Orjo [backlab / graz]

Universalkünstler Orjo wird die Veranstaltung mit beeindruckendem, pd-generiertem Bildmaterial versorgen. Als VJ hat er 2006 u.a. das Elevate Festival bespielt. Ansonsten ist Orjo u.a. als Electronica-Produzent und Bassist der Post-rock Formation earl mobileh aktiv.
